The Face of Boe...

86. Surprise [link]

This was the biggest surprise the show had thrown at me within the three seasons...I was literally jumping out of my seat screaming "oh my god no way!" and other such things. Brad was in shock, it actually took him a second to process what he had just learned then he as well began with the "no way"s. Thank you to bbc for the images.
The Face of Boe was the all knowing being who was over a million years old. No one knew how he lived that long since his race's lifespan was about 40 years or so. He was said to have known everything. In the last episode of season three it was reviled that the now immortal Captain Jack Harkness will eventually become The Face of Boe. (This explained why he called the doctor old friend upon their second meeting known at the time and how he knew thins about the doctor that were close to impossible for him to know)

Captain Jack: But I keep wondering... what about aging? Cause I can't die, but I keep getting older... the odd little grey hair? Y'know? What happens if I live for a million years?
The Doctor: [amused] I really don't know.
Captain Jack: Heh, okay, vanity, sorry. Yeah, can't help it. Used to be a poster boy, when I was a kid, living in the Boeshane Peninsula. Tiny place. I was the first ever to be signed up for the Time Agency. They were so proud of me. The Face of Boe, they called me. [smiles] I'll see you. [He runs off]
The Doctor: [Quietly] No..
Martha: It can't be.
The Doctor: No... definitely not... no?
[Martha laughs]
The Doctor: [mouthing silently] No!!
[He throws back his head and laughs]
